Tax Paraprofessional
Position Summary
We are seeking a Tax Paraprofessional whose primary responsibility will focus on recurring data entry and numbers-based tasks. This role requires strong attention to detail and a comfort level with recurring work. It involves interacting with various departments, supporting tax preparation, and assisting the tax team with critical front- and back-end processes. The Tax Paraprofessional will be key in maintaining accurate records and managing essential tax compliance activities.
Essential Functions
- Data Entry: Perform recurring data entry tasks associated with tax compliance, including preparing and organizing tax forms, documents, and spreadsheets.
- Document Management: Maintain and organize client documents, ensuring files are accurate, up-to-date, and ready for team access.
- Compliance Support: Assist in the preparation of basic tax returns by gathering required information from clients and ensuring it is correctly entered into the system.
- Review & Filing: Support the filing of tax returns by reviewing for completeness, ensuring compliance with regulations, and handling any follow-up correspondence.
- Client Interaction: Interact with clients as needed to request missing information and respond to queries about basic tax matters.
- Recurring Reporting: Assist in producing recurring reports and summaries for senior tax professionals.
- Coordination: Work closely with other members of the tax department to ensure that deadlines are met and that projects are on track.
- Assistance with Audits: Provide support to senior tax professionals during audits by managing data requests and assembling necessary documentation.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Attention to Detail: Must have a strong eye for detail to ensure data entry is accurate and that tax forms are correctly completed.
- Comfort with Numbers: Willingness to spend the majority of the day working with numbers and spreadsheets.
- Time Management: Ability to handle multiple recurring tasks and manage time effectively.
- Basic Knowledge of Tax Forms: Familiarity with basic tax forms and financial documents is preferred but not required. We will provide full training for the role.
- Software Proficiency: Experience with data entry systems, Microsoft applications, and Adobe PDF. Training on tax software (such as CCH ProSystems) will be provided.
- Communication Skills: Able to communicate clearly and professionally with both internal team members and clients when needed.
Work Environment
- Hybrid work environment, with an in office requirement of 3 days per week.
- Occasional overtime during busy tax periods.
- Interaction with multiple departments, including tax staff and the billing department.
